You gate check the stroller (buy a cheap one in case they break it).
You can take the car seat on the plane IF you’ve paid for a seat for the baby. Otherwise you’d gate check it or send it as checked luggage.
Sorry, I know it sucks.
you need to check your car seat as luggage but it doesn’t count against the number of bags you have. The stroller can be taken right up to the plane and they will tag it and stow it under the plane for you and have it waiting for you at the door as soon as you get off again! It’s fabulous!
Strollers – not usually, unless its just a really tiny one that folds small enough for the overhead bin (and yes, they do make some of those!) But the car seat you can and should use on the plane, which means you have to buy your child their own seat. Airlines currently allow you to have a child under 2 years old as a lap baby, but even the airline employees will tell you its a gimmick to make money and they don’t recommend it. Always buy your child her own seat and bring her car seat and install it on the plane.
There’s a link to an article written by a former flight attendant below (flyingwithchildren) with great info on why you should always use a car seat with your child on the plane.

You take them with you until you board and then they put them in cargo.
